The Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre (DFYT) currently in the fourth year, DFYT is now being held in October to ensure stronger participation of theatre enthusiasts. The festival aims to bring together UAE-based theatre groups, and provide actors, directors, script writers, stage designers, production, makeup artists, audio and visual specialists, lighting and trussing specialists, and costume stylists a platform to display their talent. .

One of the key components of the festival is the series of specialised seminars and lectures on various aspects of theatre production including acting skills, scripting, set design, performing, producing, trussing, and lighting. Also, following every performance, the team interacted with the media and theatre experts for a critical evaluation of the play, which further helped strengthen their outlook about theatre.

The Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre also honours the participants with an array of awards for Best Play, Best Director, Best Script, Best male actor, Best female actress, Best female supporting role, Best male supporting role, Best role for a non-Emirati, Best use of Lighting, Best music and sound effects, Best Scenery, Best costumes, Best makeup, a Recognition award, and a Media award. The awards are decided by a panel of eminent theatre professionals and cultural leaders.
